Michelle is a recognized voice in the movement to eradicate human trafficking and child exploitation. Her focus area is advocating for the hospitality and travel industry to put in place policies and procedures to address their risks for child exploitation.
With a decade of experience working in the field, Michelle built ECPAT-USA’s private sector engagement strategy from the ground up. Under her direction, ECPAT-USA became the nation’s leading non-profit organization partnering with the private sector in eradicating child exploitation and trafficking.
She has contributed to government testimony, presented to the World Economic Forum, Institute of Medicine, and the White House. Michelle developed and launched industry-wide training about human trafficking for the hospitality industry and meeting professionals. The hotel training serves as the industry-standard training on the issue and is endorsed by the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
Michelle has been featured on CNN, the New York Times, Thomson Reuters, and Forbes, among other publications. She was named a Changemaker by MeetingsNet, a Hero by MeetGreen, one of the Top 500 and Top 1,000 People in Events for Social Responsibility by BizBash for two consecutive years, and a 2019 In-Crowd 40 Under 40 by Connect Association Magazine.
Michelle is currently an advisor to Meeting Professionals Against Human Trafficking. From 2018-2918, she served on the United States Department of Transportation's Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking and on the Global Business Travel Association's Women’s Travel Safety Task Force.
